Love Unrequited

Every thought a dagger stab,
Bleeding  she lay on the torturous
Rack of unrequited love, supine.
Vignettes, hawk talons
Dug and clawed her being.

The whys of existence
Writhing, twisting, snakes
Baring fangs, poising to strike, to kill.
Evading, she wallowed
In the slough of despair.

Life stretched out her hand
Drawing her to mundane
Thousand and one things
Shelved, in her eagerness
To embrace the new born love.
